This issue is often found in Mint N.H. condition, as several sheets have been broken in the past. However, most of the stamps in these sheets are somewhat off-center, and examples such as this, with wide margins and precise centering, are very rare.
With 2019 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $9,250.00). Only one stamp grades higher (at 100, offered in our Whitman sale), and only two others share this grade -- statistics that have not changed since at least 2009

90c Carmine (191). Original gum, lightly hinged, well-centered, wide margins, lovely bright colorEXTREMELY FINE. AN IMPRESSIVE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1879 AMERICAN BANK NOTE ISSUE.
With 1987, 1999, and 2006 P.F. certificates (XF 90). By way of comparison, P.S.E. has graded three at 90, with only three higher
90c Carmine (191). Part original gum which covers more than half the back, near perfect centering with balanced margins, brilliant colorEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1879 AMERICAN BANK NOTE ISSUE WITH LARGE-PART ORIGINAL-GUM.
