Sale 1133, Lot 288, 1869 Pictorial Issue Group Lots1869 Pictorial Issue, Japanese Cancels. 37 1869 Issue stamps plus six stamps from the 1861-68 or Bank Note Issues, approximately 25 with Japanese "X" chop cancels, 12 with "Hiogo Japan" double-circle handstamp, a few other circular datestamp cancels, 1869 denominations including 2c, 3c, 6c and 10c, plus a single 12c, also one 10c with "B62" in barred oval cancel of Hong Kong and one later cover with 5c No. 223 and purple "U.S. Postal Agency * Shanghai * 18 Dec. 1891" oval datestamp, some flaws to be expected and a few of the "X" cancels may possibly not be of Japanese origin, overall a fascinating and valuable collection which is rarely seen in this quantity, six certificates accompany, Scott Retail as all genuine cancels more than $15,000.00, see full scan on our website here
