3c Columbian (232). Sheet of 100 with two imprint, plate no. 76 and letter "R" at top, imprints at sides, most stamps Mint N.H., four stamps at bottom and top selvage with h.r., unfortunately there are extensive separations with a block of 35 at lower left separated and with other significant separations including in plate blocks, its current condition is stabilized to some extent as it is between two sheets of plexiglass, few small faults, still an impressive multiple, centering varies but we do see some well-centered singles so its value as a multiple is limited at best, Scott value as two hinged plate blocks, four hinged singles and 80 Mint N.H. singles

4c Columbian, Error of Color (233a). Original gum described on accompanying certificate as disturbed but we feel this is overly harsh, rich color, certificate also notes a small corner crease which is limited to the corner perf tip and is difficult to detect, we believe reperfed at top which is not noted on certificateFINE APPEARING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 4-CENT COLUMBIAN ERROR OF COLOR.
The 4c Columbian color error was caused by the use of a wrong batch of ink, and spectrographic analysis has shown that the blue inks of the 4c error and 1c Columbian have the same components. Stamps from at least two panes reached collectors, and the few cancelled examples indicate that stamps used by the public came from other panes. It is likely that a number of full sheets were printed using the wrong ink, and most of the stamps have simply been lost to philately.
With 2002 P.S.E. certificate as described above
