May 7" (1850) circular datestamp, addressed to Abingdon Va., slight overall toning, pair with small scissors-cut in top margin, still Fine and scarce 1847 cover with Florida origin and a true green cancel, the green ink used to cancel the stamp and postmark the letter is an unmistakable true green, not one of the impure greenish-blue green inks seen more frequently in this period

Sale 1155, Lot 3173, 1847 Issue used from Florida10c Black (2). Cancelled by green "PAID" straightline with matching "Tallahassee Flor. Nov. 10" (1847) circular datestamp on folded letter datelined Nov. 8, 1847 and addressed to Princeton N.J., stamp lifted and replaced, cover has been cleaned

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE EARLIEST RECORDED USE OF AN ADHESIVE STAMP FROM FLORIDA.

Several of the major Florida post offices received 5c and 10c stamps in late 1847. Tallahassee received 1,700 and 1,400 respectively. This is the earliest recorded use of either denomination of the 1847 Issue from Florida and the only pre-1848 use (EKU for 5c is June 9, 1848). The green ink used to cancel the stamp and postmark the letter is an unmistakable true green, not one of the impure greenish-blue green inks seen more frequently in this period.

Apr. 2" (1850) circular datestamp on folded letter datelined "Fort Meade Florida March 30th, 1850", addressed to Tallahassee Fla., stamp with small defect in top right corner, Very Fine appearance, an extremely rare use of the 1857 Issue from Tampa, the USPCS Census lists only four covers from Tampa (two 5c, two 10c), each from the Beard correspondence, illustrated in Florida Postal History Journal (July 2005)
