1c Ultramarine, H. Grill (134). Wide margins and almost perfectly centered, rich color on bright paper, clear grill, unusual cork cancel, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 2007 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $390.00), deserving of Jumbo appellation, in our opinion
2c Red Brown, H. Grill (135). Bright shade on crisp paper, noticeable grill, unusually wide and balanced margins, neat circle of wedges cancel and part of circular datestamp, fresh and Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp, ex Barwis, with 2008 P.F. certificate
3c Green, H. Grill (136). Rich color, clearly-defined grill, Jumbo margins, very light quartered cork cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a beautiful stamp, with 1999 P.F. certificate
3c Green, H. Grill, Split Grill (136 var). Mint N.H., grill split vertically, rich color, small natural paper fiber inclusion on back not mentioned on accompanying certificates, Fine, with 1988 and 2013 P.F. certificates, Scott Retail as hinged

7c Vermilion, H. Grill, Split Grill (138 var). Vertically split and clearly-defined grills, radiant color nicely complemented by red New York circular datestamp, trace of blue cancel at center, well-balanced margins, Extremely Fine, the higher value Bank Note stamps are very rarely seen with a socked-on-the-nose circular datestamp, and the red ink is yet another factor of rarity and desirability, with 1999 P.F. certificate
10c Brown, Grill (139). H. Grill with easily discernible grill points, deep rich color nicely contrasted by blue target cancel, unusually wide marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 10-CENT NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY GRILLED ISSUE.

10c Brown, H. Grill (139). Well-centered, fresh color, neat blue crossroads cancel, couple minor margin tears, Extremely Fine appearance
10c Brown, H. Grill and Ungrilled, Se-Tenant (139, 150). Horizontal pair, natural s.e. at right, right stamp shows clear grill points, left stamp shows no trace of grill whatsoever, bright color, bold quartered cork cancels and red circular datestamp, Very Fine, a very unusual pair, the grills on the 10c stamps tend to be faint and this is an unusual instance where a multiple contains grilled and ungrilled stamps, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate, Scott Retail as singles

3c Green, Double I. Grill (136A var). Horizontal pair, left stamp with double I Grill, rich color, bold cork cancels, left stamp small filled thin at top right, Very Fine appearance, with 2013 P.F. certificate, Scott Catalogue does not list this with a double grill
10c Brown, I. Grill (139A). Well-defined outline of I Grill points, rich color, light strike of cork cancel and trace of red datestamp at lower left, centered to bottom leftFINE. THE 10-CENT I GRILL IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL UNITED STATES STAMPS. TO DATE, ONLY TWELVE USED AND ONE UNUSED EXAMPLES HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED.
Starting with the 2013 Scott U.S. Specialized Catalogue, the I Grills have been elevated to major catalogue number status. Collectors will now have to acquire these I Grills in their quest for completeness. We anticipate that collector demand will be difficult to satisfy based on populations we have seen.
Ronald Burns, the foremost authority on the Bank Note grills, records ten used examples of the 10c I Grill, plus an additional two used on the same cover. One unused example is also known.

Well-defined I Grill points visible on both sides of the stamp, no less than 9 points in width and 11 points in height, three wide margins, bright color, neat strike of circle of wedges cancel, small tear at bottom rightVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE 15-CENT I GRILL IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL UNITED STATES STAMPS.
