As an indication of rarity, the Zoellner collection contained a hinged example, because years of searching failed to uncover a suitable Mint N.H. copy. We have offered only seven Mint N.H. examples since keeping computerized records.

1c, 2c Vermilion (J29-J30). Attractive margins and fabulous centering, former horizontal line cancellation, latter light violet straightline cancel, Extremely Fine, these are difficult enough to find in unused condition and next to impossible used, 1c with 2003 and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90; unpriced in SMQ used), 2c 2000 P.F. certificate
2c Deep Vermilion (J30). Mint N.H., sharp impression, beautiful color, Very Fine and choice, with 1999 P.F. certificate
2c Deep Vermilion (J30). Mint N.H. with right selvage, wide margins and intense color, minor natural "splotchy" original gum as often seen on this First Bureau Issue printing, Fine and very attractive, with 1997 P.F. certificate
1c-3c Deep Claret (J31-J33). Mint N.H., very attractive margins, 1c especially so, rich colors, fresh and Fine-Very Fine

1c-10c Deep Claret (J38-J42). Mint N.H., singles of each plus extra shades of 5c and 10c, 2c and one 5c with part imprint selvage, also 2c top imprint and plate no. 1244 strip of three, fresh and Fine-Very Fine, No. J41 "Carmine Rose" with 2001 P.F. certificate
30c Deep Claret (J43). Original gum with top part imprint selvage, barely hinged, wide margins, sharp color and impression, Very Fine and choice, with 1989 P.F. certificate
50c Deep Claret (J44). Mint N.H., intense shade and impression, choice centering with well-proportioned marginsEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 50-CENT DEEP CLARET 1897 POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. THIS BUREAU ISSUE IS ONE OF THE RAREST POSTAGE DUES IN ANY CHOICE GRADE.
Ex Scarsdale. With 1982 and 1999 P.F. certificates. The older certificate describes this as Deep Claret and the more recent certificate describes this as Claret, we concur with Deep Claret
