2c Carmine Lake, Ty. I (249). Mint N.H., radiant color on bright paper, choice centering, fresh and Extremely Fine, the Carmine Lake Ty. I is rarely found in this choice condition, with 2003 P.F. certificate
2c Carmine, Ty. II (251). Original gum which appears to be Mint N.H. except for small diagonal line on gum, vibrant color, choice centering, Extremely Fine, ex Odeneal
3c Purple (253). Original gum, barest trace of hinging, beautiful margins and centering, perfect color on crisp paper, Very Fine and choice, with 2002 P.F. certificate for block (this stamp described as "never hinged")
4c Dark Brown (254). Mint N.H., wide margins of near Jumbo proportions, well-centered, rich color and sharp impression, Extremely Fine, with 1992 and 2009 P.F. certificates (XF 90)
6c Dull Brown (256). Mint N.H. with plate no. 28 at top with wide selvage, pretty shade, wide margins, Very Fine and choice, with 2010 P.S.E. certificate
8c Violet Brown (257). Mint N.H., deep rich color on bright paper, well-balanced margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp, with 2005 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $1,100.00)

5c Chocolate (270). Mint N.H., wide selvage with part imprint at top, unusually choice centering with Jumbo margins, gorgeous colorEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1895 WATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE.
With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $850.00 as 95, $3,250.00 as 98). Only two have graded higher to date and only five others share this grade.
8c Violet Brown, USIR Watermark (272a). Clear "R" watermark, partial circular datestamp and oval numeral grid cancel, Fine, very scarce and especially desirable with the positive watermark identification right in the center of the stamp, with 2009 P.S.E. certificate for pair
$1.00 Black, Ty. I (276). Mint N.H., well-balanced margins and nicely centered, intense shade, Very Fine and choice, ex Whitman, with 1994 and 2009 P.F. certificates

Top imprint block of four, original gum, deep shade and proof-like impression, choice centering, perf separations at selvage expertly reattached, bottom left stamp small thin spot at topVERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE IMPRINT BLOCK OF THE $1.00 TYPE I WATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE.
This block comes from the fifteen Plate 76 rows that produced only Type I stamps.

AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1895 $5.00 WATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. VERY FEW ARE KNOWN.
Apart from the block sold in the Whitpain collection (Siegel 977), this is the only other block of four we have offered in the past ten years. Only one full plate block exists. The Scott Catalogue assigns a paltry $1,000.00 premium for the block versus four singles, which in no way reflects its rarity.
