2c Vermilion (J30). Mint N.H., deep rich color which may be the Deep Vermilion sub-shade (though not noted as such on accompanying certificates), bright paper, perfectly centeredEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 2-CENT VERMILION ISSUE WITH STUNNING COLOR, BRIGHT PAPER AND PERFECT CENTERING.

Mint N.H., deep rich color and proof-like impression which clearly shows every detail of the engraved lathework, choice centering with wide and balanced margins, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect, ex Lyons, with 1997 and 2006 P.F. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $520.00)

It is interesting to note that, unlike other denominations of the series, Scott Catalogue only lists the 10c in the Deep Claret shade. We would classify this as Claret, and it is noted as such on the most recent certificate.

30c Deep Claret (J36). Mint N.H., deep rich color on bright paper, amazingly detailed impression, enormous margins all aroundEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT DEEP CLARET 1895 POSTAGE DUE ISSUE. THIS IS THE WIDEST-MARGINED EXAMPLE WE HAVE EVER OFFERED, EITHER IN MINT NEVER-HINGED OR HINGED CONDITION.
