10c Black, "Harelip" Variety (2 var). Position 57L1, large margins to clear, intense shade and proof-like impression which leaves the variety clearly visible, neat strike of blue grid cancelVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH THE DISTINCTIVE "HARELIP" VARIETY.
Surprisingly little is known about this variety. Philip T. Wall records only 23 off-cover examples of this position. With 1980 P.F. certificate
10c Black, Double Transfer Ty. A (2-A). Position 1R1, showing clear double transfer in "X" at lower right and also in virtually all letters at top, full margins, bright shade, neat strike of red grid cancelA VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH TYPE A DOUBLE TRANSFER.
This must be a very early impression, because the double transfer is so prominent. With 1991 P.F. certificate not mentioning the double transfer. Also accompanied by plating diagram showing the double transfer.

Position 31R1, showing clear double transfer in "Post Office" at top, large margins to clear, detailed impression, neat strike of blue "10" numeral handstamp cancelFINE. A SCARCE EXAMPLE OF THE 109-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH THE TYPE B DOUBLE TRANSFER. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE BLUE NUMERAL CANCEL.

Position 31R1, showing clear double transfer in "Post Office" at top, ample margins, intense shade and impression, unobtrusive strike of red grid cancelFRESH AND VERY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE SOUND FOUR-MARGINED EXAMPLE OF THE 109-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH THE TYPE B DOUBLE TRANSFER.
Little is known about this double transfer, which is most noticeable in the "POST OFFICE" label at top.
10c Black, Double Transfer (2 var). Position 6R1, Elliott Perry's Double Transfer Type E, top frameline heavily recut which tapers off towards the right side, also clear double transfer in several letters at top, large margins to clear, intense shade and impression, neat strike of blue circular datestamp from PhiladelphiaVERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH A CLEAR DOUBLE TRANSFER.
Accompanied by Elliott Perry's plating notes which gives a detailed description of the double transfer. For no apparent reason, this double transfer is unlisted in Scott. With 1986 P.F. certificate.
10c Black, Double Transfer (2 var). Position 2L1, showing slight double transfer at top in the background and top frameline, huge margins to full including part of adjoining stamp at left, tied by blue grid, matching "Louisville Ky. 10 Feb. 14" integral-rate circular datestamp on blue 1850 folded letter to PhiladelphiaVERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THIS DOUBLE TRANSFER ON COVER.
For no apparent reason, the Scott Catalogue does not list this double transfer as they do Types A to D. Elliott Perry called this position "Shift F" in his plating study.
