12c Green (117). Original gum, lightly hinged, perfectly centered with wide and balanced margins, deep shade and intense proof-like impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1869 ISSUE, WHICH IS ONE OF THE MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND IN THIS CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION.
With 1995 and 2018 P.F. certificates as "genuine, previously hinged". With 2018 P.S.E. certificate stating reperfed at right -- an opinion that we and the P.F. believe is incorrect
12c Green (117). Block of four, original gum, rich color, well-centered, some rejoined and reinforced vertical perfsVERY FINE. A RARE AND BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 12-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE
There are several original-gum blocks of the 12c 1869 Pictorial, ranging in size from four to nine stamps. Nearly all of the unused blocks are more or less off center. This well-centered block is one of the most attractive of all 12c 1869 multiples.

Ex Kirke. With 2010 P.F. and 2006 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $2,250.00). This is the highest grade awarded. The population of P.S.E. graded 98's has not increased since at least 2012
12c Green (117). Almost perfectly centered, rich color, light quartered cork cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb 12c Adriatic, ex "Clipper City", with 2017 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $2,250.00), this is the highest grade awarded to a used Scott 117
12c Green (117). Rich color complemented by clear green cork cancel, rim of matching circular datestamp at left, tiny corner creases, Fine appearance and very rare, green cancels are scarce to rare on any 1869 Issue stamp, but the tendency of postal clerks to zealously cancel stamps used overseas combined with the green color of the 12c no doubt made it particularly unlikely that clerks would use a green cancel on the S.S. Adriatic Issue, with 1997 P.F. certificate
12c Green (117). Choice centering with wide margins, rich color on bright paper, nicely contrasting dark red Baltimore foreign-mail cancels, Extremely Fine, ex Dr. Hinrichs, with 1987 P.F. certificate
12c Green (117). Wide margins to huge at bottom, rich color nicely complemented by red "New York Paid All Br. Transit Jul. 31" circular datestamp, Very Fine and choice, a striking stamp, ex Koppersmith and Eubanks, with 1987 and 2011 P.F. certificates
12c Green (117). Beautiful margins and centering, lovely color complemented by a red segmented cork cancel, Very Fine and choice, with 2009 P.S.E. certificate
12c Green (117). Rich color, unobtrusive strikes of blue multi-point Star and also red transit cancel, Very Fine and choice, a pretty stamp, scarce with the two colored cancels, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate

Ten used singles, nice range of cancels with a number in color, including double oval normally found on the Re-Issue (late use), "British Packet" handstamp, Baltimore foreign mail red dot, magenta target, blue pinwheel, red grid with bold blue "PD", others, a few flaws but appear Fine-Very Fine, a nice looking diverse group, six certificates accompany
12c Green (117). Two used stamps with choice centering and margins, one with blue cancel, other with light grid and red cancel, Very Fine and choice, with 2007-2008 P.S.E. certificates (VF-XF 85; total SMQ $500.00 for black cancels)
12c Green, Double, Quadruple, Split and End Roller Grills (117 var). Four stamps, first unused (no gum) with left selvage and showing an end roller grill at the edge of selvage, tiny stain, some perf separations, otherwise Fine (with 2009 P.S.E. certificate, unpriced in Scott unused), second with clear second grill applied slightly lower and to the left of the other grill, Extremely Fine (with 2001 P.F. certificate), third with grill split horizontally at top and bottom, also well-centered, Very Fine, last with double grill, one quadruple split, clear second grill showing in all four corners, centered to left, Fine (with 1984 P.F. certificate, listed but unpriced in Scott), a very rare group, Scott Retail as two double grills, one split grill and one normal unused
