1c Blue, Re-Issue (102). Perfectly centered with wide margins, long and full perforations, lovely bright shade, light strike of cork cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. -- THIS STANDS ALONE AS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED.
The 1c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 3,195 of the 1c were sold, by far the largest quantity of any denomination of the set. The remaining 6,805 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
Our census of Scott 102 used, available at our website at http://siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/102/102.pdf , records approximately 53 examples. Census No. 102-CAN-52. Ex Bowman. With 1987 P.F. certificate as Scott 63 (which it is not) and 2007 P.S.E. certificate as No. 102 (Superb 98; SMQ $10,250.00). This is the highest grade awarded and the only to achieve it.
2c Black, Re-Issue (103). Original gum, h.r., a few slightly gum soaked perfs at bottom not mentioned on accompanying certificate, still Very Fine, only 979 sold, with 1983 P.F. certificate
3c Brown Red, Re-Issue (104). Slightly disturbed original gum from hinge removal, deep rich color, nice margins and centeringVERY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE.
Only 465 sold. With 1982 P.F. certificate
5c Brown, Re-Issue (105). Original gum, deep rich color, perfect centering with Jumbo margins on post-office fresh paper, dealer's small backstampEXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE HAS BEEN AWARDED THE GRADE XF-SUPERB 95 JUMBO BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS DESIRABLE GRADE.
The 5c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. The Re-Issue plate can be identified by a notch at bottom. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 672 of the 5c were sold; the remaining 9,328 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
With 2001 and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (OG, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $13,000.00). This stamp was graded before P.S.E. started breaking out OGph vs. OGh. While the gum is intact and quite typical for the 1861 Re-Issues, we feel it would be graded OGh, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo if submitted today. This is the highest graded example in the P.S.E. Population Report and no others share this grade

12c Black, Re-Issue (107). Disturbed original gum, bright shade and detailed impression, Jumbo marginsEXTREMELY FINE. A HUGE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE.

The 12c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 389 of the 12c were sold; the remaining 9,611 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
