A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 12-CENT NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY GRILLED ISSUE. THIS GRILLED ISSUE IS EXTREMELY RARE WITH A NEW YORK FOREIGN MAIL CANCELLATION.
A review using Power Search failed to find another with such a clear strike of the New York Foreign Mail cancel. This device was used from April 1873 to May 1874.

TR-C7), long and full perforations all aroundEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 7-CENT UNGRILLED NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. THIS CANCEL IS ONE OF THE FEW KNOWN NEW YORK FOREIGN MAIL TYPES STRUCK IN BROWN.
Ex Tahoe. 1995 and 2003 P.F. certificates no longer accompany. With 2011 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $1,700.00). Only three have graded higher to date, and only two others shares this grade. Among the small handful of superb graded examples, the NYFM cancel makes this a particularly desirable example
