6c Carmine, H. Grill (137). Unused (no gum), attractive color, reattached perf tip at bottom right, appears Very Fine, with clear 1978 P.F. certificate, with 2017 P.F. certificate noting the fault
12c Dull Violet, H. Grill (140). Small lightened cancel (appears unused), well-centered, fresh color, Very Fine, with conflicting certificates -- 1991 and 2008 P.S.E. certificates state "genuine with lightened cancel", 2017 P.S.A.G. certificate states "fake grill", offered as is and not subject to further extension, Scott Retail as genuine used
24c Purple, H. Grill (142). Bright color, several easily discernible grill points, well-struck circle of V's cancelVERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 24-CENT NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY GRILLED ISSUE.
This issue is only known in used condition. With 1996 P.S.E. certificate

2c Red Brown (146). Deep rich color on bright paper, gorgeous centering with Jumbo margins, bold segmented cork cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp, with 1992 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $475.00)
7c Vermilion (149). Jumbo margins and choice centering, bright color, neat circular datestamp and cork duplex cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2002 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $1,100.00)
90c Carmine (155). Original gum, h.r., rich color, tiny thin speck at center not mentioned on accompanying certificate, Fine appearance, with 1974 P.F. certificate
6c Dull Pink (159). Block of four, disturbed original gum, rich color with a few light patches (probably from stacking), well-centered, Very Fine-Extremely Fine block
10c Brown (161). Original gum, deep rich color, unusually choice centering with wide marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1873 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE.
Black backstamp. With 2005 P.S.E. certificate (OGh, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $4,500.00). Only five grade higher and only four others share this grade.
15c Reddish Orange (163). Original gum, lightly hinged, choice balanced margins, stunning color on bright white paperEXTREMELY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1873 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE ISSUE WITH INTENSE COLOR.
Original-gum examples of the 15c 1875 Continental Issue with choice centering and vivid color are very seldom encountered. The stamp offered here combines all attributes one could hope for and is easily one of the finest we have encountered. We have seen only one Scott 163 with a P.S.E. grade of 85.

30c Gray Black (165). Unused (no gum), intense shade and proof-like impression, choice centering with wide margins, Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp, unused examples of the 30c National Bank Note Co. printing in this extraordinary quality are few and far between

90c Rose Carmine (166). Original gum, lightly hinged, well-centered, wide margins, rich color, Very Fine and choice, ex Hillmer, with 1987 P.F. certificate
5c Blue, With Gill (179c). Original gum, rich color and clear impression, clearly-defined grill points, tiny thin spot top left, Fine appearance and scarce, it is believed that the Continental grills were made experimentally in 1876, after a stamp-cleaning court trial renewed fears of stamp re-use, the primary source of the rare J Grills was the Worthington collection, which was dispersed in 1917, it is believed that most or all examples in collectors' hands came from the archive of Charles F. Steel, who patented the grilling machines used between 1867 and 1873, with 2017 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail $4,500.00
6c Pink (186). Unused (no gum), extra wide margins with right margin and more than half of top margin imperforate, only a single perf is formed at lower right, caused by a foldover before perforating, obviously creased where the foldover occurred, an Extremely Fine and most unusual freak, Scott Retail for normal unused stamp without gum
6c Pink (186). Block of four, rich color, choice centering, bottom left stamp with trivial wrinkle, Extremely Fine, scarce used block in fabulous quality
10c Brown, With Secret Mark (188). Original gum, incredibly wide margins, bright color and clear impression, Very Fine, a striking unused example, with 2010 P.S.E. certificate
30c Full Black (190). Original gum, well-centered with nicely balanced margins, intense impression, Extremely Fine, very difficult to obtain with original-gum and choice centering, with 1999 P.F. certificate
90c Carmine (191). Original gum, rich color, Very Fine, with photocopy of 1984 P.F. certificate for a block (stating Carmine Rose shade) and 2005 P.S.E. certificate
6c Deep Brown Red (208a). Original gum, excellent centering, wide margins, rich color, Extremely Fine, P.S.E. encapsulated (OG, XF 90; SMQ $1,200.00)

90c Purple (218). Beautiful rich color, unusually choice centering with balanced margins, unobtrusive cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2016 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $1,650.00), only one used Scott 218 grades higher (at 95J)
