Rich color, bold quartered cork cancel with the appearance of brown, accompanying certificate states the cancel color is the result of "mixture of red and black inks rather than a true brown ink", still a striking and Very Fine stamp and probably the closest anyone can come to owning the 12c with a brown cancel as there are none recorded, despite its listing in Scott (see Chronicle 242 for a census of colored cancels on 1869 Issue stamps), with 2006 P.F. certificate (VF 80), Scott Retail as red cancel
