Our census of Scott 119b, available at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/119b , records three unused and 102 used copies (there are an additional three used examples of Scott 119c). Two of the used copies are in institutions--the Tapling collection at The British Library and the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library. We estimate that approximately fifteen used copies are sound, including copies with tiny corner creases. A large number--more than half--have serious faults or repairs.

Excluding the unused singles, used block and used pair, there are perhaps 15 sound singles.

Unused (no gum), deep rich colors and detailed impressions, unusually choice centering with well-balanced margins, accompanying certificates note "slightly toned" but we do not believe this is toned to a degree that merits mention, small thin spot, sensibly strengthened corner creases at bottom right

EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF SEVEN RECORDED UNUSED EXAMPLES OF THE 30-CENT 1869 PCTORIAL INVERT. ONE OF THE GREATEST RARITIES OF UNITED STATES PHILATELY.

Only seven unused examples of the 30c 1869 Pictorial Issue with inverted flags are known. Only one has original gum, which was sold in our 2013 auction of the "Beverly Hills" collection for $600,000 hammer. The other six have no gum. Of the seven unused copies, the original-gum example is sound, as are two of the copies without gum (census nos. 2 and 4).

FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL INVERT, OF WHICH 38 USED COPIES ARE AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS.

Our census of 30c 1869 Inverts, available at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/121b , contains a total of 47 stamps, including 7 unused and 40 used. One used stamp is in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library (census no. 39) and another used stamp is in the Tapling collection at the British Library (census no. 40). Most have faults to varying degrees.
