3c Dull Red, Ty. I (11). Full margins to in at top and right, tied by greenish-blue "Ballardvale Mass. Feb. 21" circular datestamp with day in manuscript on cover to Cavendish Vt., with British metallic gold Anti-Slavery propaganda design, depicting an African family in their native land at left, broken shackles at their feet and sailing ships on both sides, slogan reads "Haste Happy Day! The time we long to see when every son of Adam shall be free!", imprint at bottom is slightly off edge but shows name of John MarshallEXTREMELY FINE. THIS MAGNIFICENT COVER IS ARGUABLY THE GREATEST OF ALL ANTI-SLAVERY ENVELOPES USED IN THE UNITED STATES. THE BRITISH DESIGN IS EXTREMELY RARE, AND THE USE OF THE 3-CENT 1851 ISSUE FOR UNITED STATES POSTAGE ADDS ANOTHER DIMENSION OF RARITY.
The African man at left holds a Bible, referencing Isaiah 58:6: "...loose the bands of wickedness, undo the heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free and break every yoke."

Pale shade, margins to clear, tied by large "Paid" grid cancel, red "Boston Sep. 2" circular datestamp on cover to Roxbury Mass., with "Ocean Penny Postage" illustrated propaganda design depicting female Peace and members of various races with sidewheel paddle steamship, Mitchell imprint, "League of Universal Brotherhood" embossed clasping hands seal on backflap, with contents (may not be original as dated July)FRESH AND VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THIS OCEAN PENNY POSTAGE PROPAGANDA COVER, WHICH WAS PUBLISHED IN ENGLAND AND USED IN THE UNITED STATES. A BEAUTIFUL USE.

1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Two huge margins including part of adjoining stamps at bottom, slightly in at top and lower left, tied by "Hartford Ct. Nov. 17" circular datestamp on red Fillmore & Donelson Know-Nothing Party campaign cover to Norwalk Conn., Milgram MF-4, top right corner of cover repaired (clear of stamp), some other edgewear, still Fine, a scarce design and especially so with the 1c 1851, after Fillmore's presidency (1850-53) and Pierce's administration (a turbulent one due to the slavery conflict), Fillmore ran as the Know-Nothing Party candidate in 1856
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Huge margins all around, radiant color, tied by "Paid" grid and red "Boston Mass. Sep. 27" circular datestamp on yellow cover to North Conway N.H., with Millard Fillmore three-quarter portrait in oval with ms "What is Liberty without Union? Anarchy!" written around design by sender, Milgram MF-3, with original 1856-dated contents which discusses politics "I do not want a Northern President or a Southern President but a President of the whole country", other better contents, Very Fine and unusual, ex Jarrett
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Margins to in, oxidized, cancelled by penstrokes and tied by blue "Olivet Mich. Sep. 3, 1852" circular datestamp with date in manuscript on cover to Charlotte, with nine printed illustrations attached as a collage and with handwritten anti-Pierce comments including toy soldier with "Gen. Pierce would like to see you sin as he has just recovered from his faint", embossed corner card covered by label and stamp, backflap removed, some soiling and wear including tear at top, still Very Fine, an inventive and at times scathing anti-Pierce propaganda cover, ex Jarrett

May 23" circular datestamp on cover to Middleborough Mass. with Fremont three-quarter portrait in oval surrounded by scenes of Fremont battling Indians and ascending Rock Mountains, John Andrew and J. E. Tilton imprints, Milgram JF-40, grid struck over the portrait of Fremont in an obvious expression of sentiment by the postmaster, minor edgewearVERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR AND RARE FREMONT CAMPAIGN COVER INCORPORATING ILLUSTRATIONS OF THE LEGENDARY FRONTIERSMAN FIGHTING INDIANS AND REACHING THE PEAK OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS.
This remarkable design has detailed woodcut engravings of battle scenes at lower left and top center, and the engraving above the portrait oval depicts Fremont at the top of the Rocky Mountains, which is similar to the image used more than 40 years later on the 5c Trans-Mississippi stamp.
