1c-24c 1870 Bank Note Issue, Balance (134/153). Nine stamps, all appear unused and all but one apparently are unused, including Nos. 134 (removed cancel), 146, 147, 148 (two), 149, 150, 151 and 153, a couple have original gum including Nos. 146 and 148, the others either regummed or no gum, faults nearly throughout which are generally minor except 6c with disturbed original gum and small tears, 12c reperfed on two sides, overall Fine appearing group, four certificates accompany, Scott Retail approximately $4,800.00
2c Red Brown, H. Grill (135). Original gum, lightly hinged, deep rich color, well-centered with balanced margins, Very Fine and choice, a fresh 2c Bank Note grill, with 2006 and 2009 P.F. certificates (VF 80)
3c Green, H. Grill (136). Slightly disturbed original gum, bright color, wide margins, clear grill, Extremely Fine, ex Geisler, with 1985 P.F. certificate for block of four
6c Carmine, H. Grill (137). Unused (no gum), bright color, reperfed at left and tiny thin at right center, appears Extremely Fine, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate
7c Vermilion, H. Grill (138). Unused (no gum), wide margins and choice centering, vibrant color, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 1990, 1999 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates
10c Brown, H. Grill (139). Unused (no gum), rich color, outstanding margins and centeringEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1870 NATIONAL GRILLED ISSUE.
With 2016 P.F. certificate
12c Dull Violet, H. Grill (140). Unused (no gum), deep rich color, clear grill is visible from the front, tiny corner crease at top leftFINE APPEARING AND RARE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1870 NATIONAL GRILLED ISSUE. THIS IS THE MOST DIFFICULT DENOMINATION OF THE SET TO OBTAIN IN UNUSED CONDITION.
Aside from the 24c, which does not exist unused, the 12c is the most difficult to obtain unused, in any condition. Probably less than ten exist with original gum, and many of these have faults.
With 2006 P.F. certificate
15c Orange, H. Grill (141). Unused (no gum), bright color, attractive margins and centering, Very Fine, with 1987 and 2006 P.F. certificates
24c Purple, H. Grill (142). Light pastel color complemented by red cork cancel, clear rows of grill pointsVERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE 24-CENT 1870 NATIONAL GRILLED ISSUE WITH A RED CANCEL.
With 1992 P.F. certificate
30c Black, H. Grill (143). Unused (no gum), nicely centered, intense color on fresh white paper, clear grillVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A HANDSOME AND EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT H GRILL BANK NOTE ISSUE.
With 1955 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates
90c Carmine, H. Grill (144). Unused (no gum), few grill points visible at bottom, some trivial perf tip soiling, reperfed, Very Fine appearance, a very scarce stamp in unused condition, ex Geisler, with 1980 P.F. certificate
