2c Brown (113). Original gum, brilliant color, crisp impression, gorgeous centering with unusually wide and balanced margins, shows guide arrow at bottom leftEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED TO DATE AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE.
With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, Superb 98; SMQ $6,450.00). As another indication of how scarce this issue is in higher grades, only one used example has achieved this grade.

Original gum, beautiful Jumbo margins and fabulous centering to match, sharp fresh color on bright paper, shows guide arrow at bottom left (this would have been the top right stamp in a right arrow margin block of four)EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MASSIVE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 JUMBO BY P.S.E. -- ONLY ONE OTHER SHARES THIS GRADE AND ONLY ONE HAS GRADED HIGHER TO DATE.

Bright colors, exceptionally wide margins all around, neat cork cancel, most recent certificate notes a tiny thin at left at the 5th perforation up from the bottom (infinitesimal in our view), appears Extremely Fine, with 1999 and 2007 P.F. certificates, the earlier not mentioning any faults

A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE FOR AN ORIGINAL-GUM SCOTT 122 TO DATE.
With 1991 P.F. and 1991 and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $82,500.00). This is the highest grade awarded to date. Only one other stamp has equaled this grade, and it realized $90,000 hammer in our auction of the Scarsdale collection.
