Vertical strip of three, bright shade on crisp paper, huge margins to full at left, Very Fine, an exceedingly scarce error, we located only one other in Power Search (pair, ex Whitman) and as of 2009 the P.F. had certified no more than five, ex "Georgetown" and Klein with his initials on back, with 1991 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as a pair with no premium for the additional stamp, we believe this is quite undercatalogued in Scott
3c Dark Violet, Ty. II, Vertical Strip of Three, Imperforate Horizontally (502c). Lightly hinged, rich color, choice centering, light natural gum wrinkles not visible on front of stamps and not mentioned on accompanying certificate, Extremely Fine, with 1983 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as a pair with no premium for the third stamp, this is undercatalogued in Scott given its scarcity
4c Brown (503). Mint N.H., wonderful color and impression, perfect centering, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1981 P.F. and 2018 P.S.E. certificates (Gem 100; SMQ $1,150.00), only one grades higher and one other shares this grade, this is the first example graded above a 98J we have offered
5c Rose, Error (505). Mint N.H. double error in a block of 12, pristine gum without skips or bends, bright color, fresh and Fine, ex Curtis
6c Red Orange (506). Mint N.H., vibrant color as fresh as the day it was printed on bright paper, mathematically perfect centering, Extremely Fine Gem, a stunning stamp, with 2015 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; SMQ $1,350.00), only one grades higher and no others share this perfect grade
6c Red Orange, Perf 10 at Bottom (506a). Radiant color, neat "Hastings Neb." precancelFRESH AND RARE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE 6-CENT 1917 ISSUE PERF 10 AT BOTTOM. ONLY 21 USED AND TWO UNUSED EXAMPLES ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.
Our census of Scott 506a, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/506a , contains 21 certified used copies, including two with transitional perfs in a block. Most have faults ranging from pulled perfs to creases. Only eight are confirmed as sound (two are in the block). Two others have not been seen in many years and so condition needs to be verified.

$1.00 Violet Brown (518). Mint N.H., deep rich color and proof-like impression on bright paper, mathematically perfect centering with Jumbo marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS ASTONISHING MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 1917 ISSUE, SCOTT 518, HAS RECEIVED THE ULTIMATE GRADE OF GEM 100 JUMBO FROM P.S.E. THE ESSENCE OF PERFECTION.
Plate 5782 was the only plate prepared for each of the $1.00 Franklin issues (Scott 423, 460, 478 and 518). None of the other $1.00 Franklin issues has been graded above 98J in Mint N.H. condition.
