Choice centering with wide margins, deep rich colors and detailed impressions, neat strike of circle of wedges cancel, clear second grill which does not overlapEXTREMELY FINE. A PHENOMENAL EXAMPLE OF THE 24-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE WITH A DOUBLE GRILL. THIS IS EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
We have offered only three others since the mid-1990's. Only one other was sound.

Our survey of auction catalogs and Philatelic Foundation records produced 23 examples of the 24c 1869 Without Grill (Scott 120a), of which half have faults.
