Only 85 albums were produced. This is a very desirable complete set of the 1894 Issue
$1.00-$5.00 1894 Bureau Issue, Small Die Proofs on Wove (261AP2-263P2). Each of the three dollar values on original gray card backing from a Roosevelt presentation album, fresh and Very Fine, only 85 albums were produced
1c Ultramarine (246). Original gum, with wide plate no. 27 selvage at left, radiant color on crisp paper, perfectly centered with Jumbo margins, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect, with 2013 P.F. and 2014 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $360.00 as 98), only one has been graded higher and one shares this grade -- neither of which have plate number or imprint selvage
1c Blue (247). Mint N.H. with wide right plate no. 98 selvage, pretty shade on crisp paper, wide and balanced margins, Extremely Fine Gen, with 2005 and 2014 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,100.00), only three have graded higher (all 95J) and only five others share this grade
1c Blue (247). Mint N.H. with wide right part imprint selvage, rich color on bright paper, well-balanced margins, Extremely Fine, with 2015 P.F. certificate (XF 90 XQ), the "XQ" stands for extraordinary quality
1c Blue (247). Mint N.H. with bottom plate no. 33 selvage, rich color, small natural gum wrinkle at bottom, Very Fine and choice, with 2013 P.F. certificate (VF-XF 85)
2c 1894 Issue, Types I-III (248-252a). Seven stamps with recent certificates, majority Mint N.H. and several graded, including Nos. 248 (PF 85), 249 (Mint N.H.), 250 (Mint N.H., plate no. selvage), 251 (Mint N.H. according to P.S.A.G., lightly hinged according to P.F.), 251a (tiny thin spot), 252 (Mint N.H., P.S.E. 70, small gum skips), 252a (disturbed original gum, small indentation), overall a Very Fine group
2c Pink, Ty. I (248). Bottom imprint and plate no. 1 block of six, original gum, lightly hinged, brilliant color, few minor perf separations sensibly reinforced, Fine-Very Fine appearance, scarce plate block from the first Bureau plate
2c Carmine Lake, Ty. I (249). Mint N.H. with plate no. 32 selvage at top, deep rich color, detailed impression, choice centering with unusually wide margins, Extremely Fine, ex "Scarsdale", 1999 P.F. certificate (as Dark Carmine Lake) no longer accompanies, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $1,250.00) -- we feel that the margins on this stamp qualify it for Jumbo status and should be graded 90 Jumbo.
2c Carmine, Ty. II (251). Mint N.H. with plate no. 131 wide selvage at left, radiant color and detailed impression, Very Fine and choice, ex "Scarsdale", 1998 P.F. certificate no longer accompanies, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80; SMQ $1,100.00), this is the most difficult type and shade to obtain in choice condition
2c Carmine, Ty. II (251). Mint N.H. left imprint and plate no. 131 strip of three, brilliant color, bottom stamp natural paper inclusion at lower right, fresh and Fine, with 2013 P.S.E. certificate
2c Carmine, Ty. III (252). Left imprint and plate no. 141 strip of three, top and bottom stamps Mint N.H., center stamp and selvage lightly hinged, vivid color, Very Fine, with 2013 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as singles without premium for the position
5c Chocolate (255). Mint N.H. with plate no. 130 selvage at top, radiant color, beautiful centering, Extremely Fine, with 2012 P.F. certificate (XF 90)
6c Dull Brown (256). Mint N.H. with bottom part imprint selvage, pretty shade, wide margins, Extremely Fine, with 2015 P.F. certificate
8c Violet Brown (257). Original gum, rich color and detailed impression, exceptional Jumbo margins, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (OGh, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo; SMQ $650.00), only one has graded higher
15c Dark Blue (259). Mint N.H. with bottom plate no. 52 selvage, intense shade and impression, Very Fine and choice, a stunning stamp, ex "Vineyard", with 1982 and 2000 P.F. certificates, with 2014 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80; SMQ $900.00)
50c Orange (260). Original gum, barest trace of hinging at top, plate no. 75 wide selvage at top, Very Fine, with 1981 and 2012 P.F. certificates
50c Orange (260). Original gum, lightly hinged, rich color and detailed impression, wide margins, Very Fine and choice, with 2015 P.F. certificate
$1.00 Black, Ty. I (261). Original gum, deep shade and detailed impression on bright paper, Jumbo margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, scarce with such wide margins, ex "Golden Oak", with 1992 P.F. and 2014 P.S.E. certificates (OGh, XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $2,400.00), despite the "OGh" call, this stamp is not heavily hinged and has no hinge remnant
$1.00 Black, Ty. II (261A). Original gum, lightly hinged, intense shade and impression on crisp paper, Jumbo marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A GORGEOUS ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 $1.00 TYPE II UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE.
This issue is notoriously difficult to obtain with such choice centering and wide margins. With 2015 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $4,000.00 as 90, $6,800.00 as 95), only four have graded higher and none share this grade
$1.00 Black, Ty. II (261A). Original gum, intense shade and sharp impression, well-balanced marginsVERY FINE. A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 $1.00 TYPE II UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE.

II, $2.00 Bright Blue (261A, 262). $2.00 Mint N.H. with part arrow selvage at left, margins into perfs at left, rich color, natural horizontal gum crease at top, a few perf separations, appears Fine, scarce in Mint N.H. condition, with 2011 P.F. certificate, $1.00 original gum, tiny internal crease and tiny thin near bottom, Very Fine appearance, with 1976, 2001 P.F. and 2002 P.S.E. certificates (OG, VG 50; SMQ $500.00)
$2.00 Bright Blue (262). Original gum, certificate notes some "added gum in the hinge area", which seems like a stretch in the powers of observation, well-centered with attractive wide margins, strong intense color on bright paperEXTREMELY FINE. THE $2.00 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE IS RARELY ENCOUNTERED IN THIS CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION.
