1c-50c 1913-15 Issue (424-426, 428-435, 435a, 437-440). Rich colors and proof-like impressions, selected by the owner for superior quality, each with far better centering than normally seen, incl. both shades of the 12c (Scott 435 and 435a), nice range of cancels, all are completely sound and Very Fine-Extremely Fine, a beautiful group
4c Brown (427). Perfectly centered with Jumbo margins, gorgeous color on bright paper, machine cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect, with 2009 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $310.00 as 98), only one has graded higher to date and this is the only example to achieve this grade
1c Green, 2c Carmine, Coil (441-442). Used guide line pairs, 1c with "Buy U.S. Savings Bonds, Ask Your Postmaster" slogan cancel, 2c with duplex cancel, wide margins side-to-side, fresh and Very Fine, surprisingly difficult to find as used guide line pairs, 2c with 2007 P.F. certificate
1c Green, Coil (443). Guide line pair, deep rich color and proof-like impression, unusually wide and balanced margins, bold strikes of duplex cancels, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb and rare used guide line pair, with 1996 P.F. certificate
2c Carmine, Coil (444). Guide line pair, beautifully centered, intense color and detailed impression, neat duplex cancels, Extremely Fine Gem, a gorgeous used guide line pair, ex Twigg-Smith, with 2001 P.F. certificate
2c Lake, Coil (444a). Intense color and detailed impression, neat wavy-line machine cancel, single pulled perf at upper right not mentioned on accompanying certificate, otherwise Fine example of this scarce shade, extremely rare in unused or used condition, Johl notes that this issue, which was the first Perf 10 stamp to be issued, was printed frequently because the Bureau was preparing to issue rotary press stamps in the immediate future and this was printed from time to time as requisitions demanded, this shade is very distinct in comparison to the previous lot, ex Blumenkopf, with 1989 P.F. certificate
3c Violet, Coil (445). Guide line pair, radiant color and crisp impression, wide margins, unobtrusive strikes of duplex cancelVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SCARCE USED GUIDE LINE PAIR OF THE 3-CENT PERF 10 HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 445.
The 3c stamps were used primarily for special mailings such as samples and pamphlets and so relatively few used examples were saved.

4c Brown, Coil (446). Guide line pair, phenomenal centering with wide and balanced margins, deep rich color and proof-like impression, two neat strikes of Boston Mass. boxed cancelsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED GUIDE LINE PAIR OF THE 4-CENT PERF 10 HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 446. ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT COIL ISSUES TO OBTAIN WITH SUCH SUPERB CENTERING, ESPECIALLY AS A GUIDE LINE PAIR. THIS IS PROBABLY THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
This was the last 4c coil produced from flat plates before the transition to the rotary press printing method.

5c Blue, Coil (447). Guide line pair, deep rich color and proof-like impression on bright paper, neat strikes of oval registry cancelVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL AND SCARCE USED GUIDE LINE PAIR OF THE 5-CENT PERF 10 HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 447.
Since this line pair was acquired by the consignor more than 15 years ago, no others have presented an opportunity for upgrading.
