2c Black, Re-Issue (103). Intense shade and impression on bright paper, unobtrusive strike of quartered cork cancelVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT BLACK JACK RE-ISSUE. ONLY 25 ARE CONTAINED IN OUR CENSUS AND VERY FEW OF THOSE ARE SOUND WITH DECENT CENTERING.
The 2c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 979 of the 2c were sold; the remaining 9,021 were destroyed on July 16, 1884. The 2c Re-Issue plate can be easily identified by a spot on the cheek.
Our census of Scott 103 used, available at our website at http://siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/103/103.pdf , records 25 examples, including a newly-certified example on piece. It is known with a variety of cancels. Approximately half are sound, but not all are as well-centered as the example offered here.

Rich color and detailed impression on bright paper, light strikes of cancel leaves design clearly visible, reperfed at right, few short perfs at top not mentioned on accompanying certificateFINE APPEARANCE. ONLY 24 USED EXAMPLES OF THE 3-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS. A GREAT RARITY.
The 3c Re-Issue was printed from the original plate, which contained 200 subjects in two panes. 10,000 were printed (50 impressions). Only 465 of the 3c were sold; the remaining 9,535 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.

5c Brown, Re-Issue (105). Three wide margins and attractively centered, neat strike of duplex cancel, rich colorVERY FINE. A RARE SOUND USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE. ONLY 38 ARE CONTAINED IN OUR CENSUS.
The 5c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. The Re-Issue plate can be identified by a notch at bottom. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 672 of the 5c were sold; the remaining 9,328 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
Our census of Scott 105 used, available at our website at http://siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/105/105.pdf , records only 38 examples. This is the second most common of any denomination after the 1c, but it is still difficult to find in sound and centered condition.

10c Green, Re-Issue (106). Deep rich color, detailed impression, face-free strike of duplex cancel, trivial perf creases at top leftVERY FINE APPEARANCE. ONLY FIVE USED EXAMPLES OF THE 10-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE ARE RECORDED, MAKING THIS THE RAREST IN USED CONDITION AFTER THE 90-CENT. ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL USED UNITED STATES STAMPS.

The 10c has the lowest survival rate (after the 90c) of any of the Re-Issues, which is surprising, because after June 1, 1867, the registry fee could be paid by stamps, and the 10c fee was in effect when the 10c 1861 Re-Issue was in circulation.

12c Black, Re-Issue (107). Intense shade and impression, wavy-line cancel that is not contemporary with the issue, Very Fine, used examples of this issue are extremely rare -- we record only 15 examples with contemporary cancels, we sold a similarly cancelled 24c in our 2014 Rarities sale and a 90c in our 2004 "Lake Shore" sale, with 1977 P.F. certificate stating "it is genuine"
15c Black, Re-Issue (108). Intense shade and impression on bright paper, unobtrusive strike of duplex cancel, well-proportioned margins, tiny thin spot, small repair at bottom left cornerVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1866 RE-ISSUE. ONLY SIXTEEN ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.
The 15c Re-Issue was printed from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (50 impressions). Only 397 of the 15c were sold; the remaining 9,603 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.

24c Deep Violet, Re-Issue (109). Extraordinarily well-centered, deep rich shade, proof-like impression on bright paper, light duplex "2" cancelEXTREMELY FINE. THE 24-CENT RE-ISSUE IS EXTREMELY RARE IN USED CONDITION. ONLY THIRTEEN USED COPIES ARE CONTAINED IN OUR RECORDS. THIS STAMP, CENTERED AND SOUND, IS ONE OF THE FINEST KNOWN AND IS GRADED XF 90 BY P.S.E., WHICH IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED.
The 24c Re-Issue was printed from the original plate of 200 subjects. A total of 10,000 was printed (50 impressions). Only 346 of the 24c were sold; the remaining 9,654 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.

A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE. ONLY 22 ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.
Our census of used Scott 110, available at our website, contains only 22 examples, plus one with a non-contemporary cancel. Of these, 14 have faults. Most of the faulty examples have serious defects. Very few copies, either sound or defective, have decent centering. The stamp offered here should be considered a desirable example.
