Providence R.I., 5c, 10c Black, Plate Proofs and Trial Color Plate Proofs on Card (10X1P4, 10X2P4, 10X1TC4, 10X2TC4). Six complete sheets of twelve, each approximately 232 x 179mm with full die sinkage, two in Black, others form a complete set of all four Scott-listed Trial Color Proofs -- Gray Blue, Green, Brown Carmine and Brown -- fresh colorsEXTREMELY FINE. A PHENOMENAL COMPLETE SET OF LARGE DIE PROOFS AND LARGE DIE TRIAL COLOR PROOFS OF THE PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL.
Only three sets are believed to exist.

Post Office Stamps. The Postmaster has issued postage stamps of denominations of five and ten cents, for the payment of postage in advance. They are very convenient and will save the trouble of making change at the Post Office, and will enable people to send prepaid letters at hours when the Office is closed. To cover the expenses of engraving and printing, these stamps are sold at a five per cent advance upon the regular rates of postage. They are for sale at the Post Office. W. B. Congdon & Co. inquiring about the price of Parker Mill Iron, to Thomas J. Coggeshall in Taunton Mass. as agent for the Parker Mills, faint bend barely affects stampVERY FINE. Aug. 3" circular datestamp and matching "5" handstamp, some slight soiling, Very Fine stamp, the absence of a "Paid" handstamp and late use after the 1847 Issue was available indicate the stamp did not originate on this cover, four are recorded in the Slater book used after this one
