Position 4, ample to large margins showing almost all of framelines on three sides, without usual pen cancel and tied by well-struck blue "Paid" handstamp, matching "Baltimore Md. Mar. 29" circular datestamp on 1847 folded letter to Philadelphia, faint toned spot at center from wax sealEXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT BALTIMORE PROVISIONAL ON WHITE PAPER USED ON COVER. VERY FEW OF THE KNOWN COVERS HAVE THE STAMP CANCELLED ONLY BY A HANDSTAMP.
As noted in the Scott Catalogue footnote to 3X1-3X4, the Baltimore provisional stamps on white paper followed the printing on bluish paper.

Brattleboro Vt., 5c Black on Buff (5X1). Position 4, framelines complete or nearly complete on all four sides, cancelled by perfect complete strike of blue "5" handstamp, intense shade and impression, thinned as usualVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE BRATTLEBORO PROVISIONAL CANCELLED BY THE BLUE "5" HANDSTAMP.
Of the 52 Brattleboro provisional stamps recorded by Philip T. Wall (32 off cover and 20 on 19 covers), only this example has the blue "5" cancel.

New York N.Y., 5c Black, "ACM" Initials (9X1). Large part original gum, large margins to full, crisp impression, Very Fine and choice, scarce in original-gum condition and with four margins, with 1990 and 1996 P.F. certificates

Providence R.I., 5c & 10c Gray Black, Se-Tenant (10X2a). Complete sheet of twelve, brownish original gum, three paper hinges made of selvage at top, couple light creases and wrinkles, Very Fine appearance, with 1996 A.P.S. certificate
