With 2004 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $3,750.00). This is one of only four awarded this grade with just five higher.

5c Red Orange (1c). Large to huge margins including left sheet margin and part of adjoining stamp at top, bright shade and worn-plate impression, bold strike of red New York square grid cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE DESIRABLE RED ORANGE SHADE.

5c Red Brown (1). Reconstructed block of six from vertical strips of Positions 79/89/99R1 and 80/90/100R1, containing Double Transfer Types A (Position 80) and B (Position 90), mostly large margins all around, rich Deep Red Brown color and impression from the First Printing, each with vivid red grid cancel, top two stamps faintly creasedTHE UNIQUE “ASHBROOK RECONSTRUCTION”--A BLOCK OF SIX DIVIDED INTO TWO VERTICAL STRIPS AND REJOINED TO FORM ONE EXTREMELY FINE AND INCOMPARABLE SHOWPIECE.
The left strip was owned by Stanley B. Ashbrook. In 1918, while viewing the Judge Robert S. Emerson collection, he realized that a similar strip owned by the judge had once adjoined his own. The reconstructed block is illustrated in the Brookman book (Volume 1, page 43).
Vertical 5c 1847 strips are very rare, on or off cover. It is reported that only one other 5c multiple exists with both double transfers--a pair from Positions 80 and 90R--but the pair is cut into at bottom and right.

Position 89R1, enormous Jumbo margins all around including small parts of adjoining stamps at top, left and right, crisp shade and proof-like impression, beautifully complemented by bold red grid cancelsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SPECTACULAR USED EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE IN THE FINEST CONDITION ATTAINABLE AND GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY P.S.E. -- THE HIGHEST AWARDED.
With 1994 (as a pair), 2001 P.F. and 2016 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $13,500.00). This is the highest grade awarded and it is shared by only five others.
