5c Brown, Large Die Proof on India (76P1). Two, each die sunk on approximately 75 x 75mm card, each shows full die sinkage, one with black number and imprint, other in issued color, latter few toned spots, otherwise Very Fine and highly exhibitable, ex Finkelburg, each with 2000 P.F. certificate

Obsolete banknote from remainders depicting the steamer Adriatic and with "DIX" (Ten) on back, National Bank Note Co. imprint, Very Fine, the iconic Adriatic engraving by James Smillie was the basis for the design of the 12c 1869 Issue, the 1874 Peru Postage Dues and a few other bank notes and stock certificates of the period, it is believed by many that the "DIX" on the back of this note was the basis for the Confederate name "Dixie"

This scarce set of blocks on India paper is largely free of the flaws that usually plague this fragile paper.
15c Brown & Blue, Ty. III, Plate Proof on India (129P3). Block of four, large margins, vignettes shifted strongly to top left, this must have offended someone because an unknown person has colored in the resulting white space with blue ink or crayon approximating the color of the vignette, small thin spot at top, Very Fine appearance and a very unusual item
The American Bond Detector and Complete History of All the United States Government Securities. Hardbound book from 1869, containing 22 engraved plates of designs or details of designs of all bonds issued under the Acts of Congress from July 17, 1861 to March 3, 1868, "with a full description of all genuine plates, and complete rules for the detection of counterfeits", also "valuable plates of existing coins, and important statistical tables" with eight plates of embossed illustrations of world coins, front cover detached, some waterstaining and light edgewear, the plates are overall very fresh, a very unusual and scarce book, the plates were printed at the Treasury Department from the original dies in possession of the U.S. government and the book was published by The American Bond and Currency Detector Co. in 1869, most we have been able to locate are in similar condition to the example offered here
