A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE PRESENTATION ALBUM OF THE 1901 PAN-AMERICAN ISSUE LARGE DIE PROOFS.
Security printers' presentation albums were specially made for a variety of people, often potential customers or dignitaries. Most have been broken apart over the years for the value of the individual proofs. Intact albums are very rare.

In 1903, during the Theodore Roosevelt administration, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing prepared 85 special presentation albums with Small Die Proofs on white wove paper of all issues printed to that date. The proofs were artfully arranged in albums, and most of the albums were given to government officials. Very few Roosevelt presentation albums remain intact. Most have been cannibalized for collectors demanding specific sets, and few remain on their original pages.
